Microfuel cells are an alternative to batteries as a source of energy for mobile devices. They can be small enough to fit into electronic devices, or slightly larger so that they can be used on an external power supply. Most portable fuel cells use hydrogen as their primary fuel, but microfuel cells usually get it from methanol, a hydrogen-rich liquid.
